In each betting interval, the player must bet or raise equal amounts of chips. A player’s bet must be equal to or greater than the previous player’s total bet. If the player’s bet fails to hit the pot, he is out of the hand. This occurs during the “showdown”.
A player may decide to keep his opening hand if he or she has a pair. To do this, the player must first declare that he or she is splitting his or her hand. Afterward, the player should place his or her discards under the chip. If the dealer finds out that the player did not have a pair, he or she will lose the pot.
