\"Poker\" <\/p>\n

Poker is a card game in which players place bets on their own or others’ hands. There are many variations of the game, but they all involve cards and chips. Players can call (match) a bet, raise it, or fold. The goal of the game is to win a pot, which is the sum total of all bets during a hand. The most common way to win the pot is by making a high-ranking poker hand, but it is also possible to win with a low-ranking one.<\/p>\n

To start the game, players put a minimum contribution, called an ante, into the betting pool. Once the antes are in, 5 cards are dealt face up to all players. Then there’s a round of betting, starting with the player to the left of the dealer.<\/p>\n

If a player cannot match the last raise, he can “call” the sight for the amount of his own stake in the pot. This equalizes the stakes of the two players, so whoever wins the showdown will win a pot equal to his own stake plus the amount that he raised.<\/p>\n

Although luck plays a part in poker, the game is primarily based on skill. It’s about reading your opponents, learning their tendencies, and adapting your strategy accordingly.
